The other side of the pond.
The Back Bank
We needed to have a place for the cows to come down to the pond and get some water and cool off during the summer. The pond bank on the back side was overrun with weeds and brush. Now it’s all gone. We will plant some trees back here so the cows will also have some shade to get out of the sun.
But for now, Barren.
The geese are very confused.
We have Plumbing
Plumbing. We have Plumbing.
Well, we are off, like a herd of Turtles.
The Royster family always says that. Whenever we get going it is like mobilizing an army. So many kids. So much stuff. What did we forget?
Royster Ranch - Off like a Herd of Turtles.
But we finally have some movement on the farm. We got the barn staked out and then Jerry with Basic Plumbing in Garner got together and worked out the plumbing. Where to put the washing stall? Where are the hose bibs? Oh. Underground drains to wash out the repair/garage.
Underground and then buttoned up.
The Start of Something Big
It all begins with an idea.
January 6, 2024
We are starting a new venture that promises to be a beacon for food enthusiasts and community gatherings alike. We are thrilled to introduce our latest project: a Wagyu cattle farm complete with an event space and a welcoming gathering area.
Why Wagyu? The Unparalleled Delight of Wagyu Steaks
Before diving into the details of our farm, let's talk about the star of the show: Wagyu beef. Originating from Japan, Wagyu beef is renowned worldwide for its extraordinary marbling, tenderness, and rich, buttery flavor. This isn't just steak; it's a culinary experience. The unique fat marbling in Wagyu beef melts at a lower temperature than typical beef, which results in a texture and taste that's simply unrivaled. It's not just about indulgence; Wagyu beef is also high in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, making it a healthier choice for meat lovers.
Our Vision for the Wagyu Cattle Farm.
Our farm will be working with Wilders in Clayton for their beautiful genetics that combine prime and wagyu genetics. This produces, we feel, a much better steak bite with all the wonderful characteristics of Japanese Wagyu beef. Our farm spans several acres of lush North Carolinian farmland, is designed to be more than just a cattle farm. It's a place where agriculture meets innovation and community.
Sustainable Farming Practices: At the heart of our operation is a commitment to sustainable and humane farming practices. Our Wagyu cattle are raised with the utmost care, ensuring they have ample space, a natural diet, and a stress-free environment. This not only aligns with our ethical standards but also contributes to the superior quality of the beef.
A Hub for Community Events: Beyond cattle farming, we envision this space as a community hub. Our tent and event space is designed to host a variety of gatherings, from farm-to-table dinners and culinary workshops to corporate events and maybe a wedding or two. The picturesque backdrop of our farm adds a unique charm to every event.
Educational Tours and Workshops: We believe in connecting people with their food sources. Our farm will offer educational tours and workshops, providing insights into Wagyu cattle rearing, sustainable farming, and the art of steak preparation and cooking.
The Farmhouse and Gathering Area: At the center of our farm is a beautifully designed barn and gathering area. This space serves as a retreat for guests to relax, enjoy the fire pits and savor the flavors of freshly prepared Wagyu beef.
